On the planet Earth in a church somewhere in London, a nervous bride begins to make her way up the aisle. Under the glare of a room full of people she progresses, but all is not well. Suddenly she begins to illuminate with a golden glow and as an alien whine rings out she screams. Her body reduces to a glowing cloud of gas, flying up through the roof and then out into space, towards a small blue box floating beside a burning star. She reforms her human shape inside the craft, and the occupant of the ship splutters in shock, as she demands to be told who he is, where she is and into what she has just materialised.

Suddenly, both hear the familiar sound of the TARDIS materialising, and they rush out into the courtyard just as the TARDIS pops into existence in mid-air, careens wildly off the buildings, and skids to a halt on the corner. A strange man staggers out of the ship, giddily wishes Jackie and Mickey a merry Christmas, and faints. A moment later, Rose emerges from the TARDIS and tells the startled Jackie and Mickey that the strange man is the Doctor…

Suddenly he hears a woman calling his name, and rushes to investigate.

Soon another man arrives, clothed in classic Edwardian dress. He tells Rosita, his companion, to pass him his Sonic Screwdriver and then to return to the TARDIS; this is the job of a Time Lord. Posted in 10th Doctor, Christmas Special, Episode Guides, New Series, New Series Season 3, Video Clip, Wallpaper with tags 10th Doctor, Christmas Special, David Tennant, Doctor Who, Kylie Minogue on March 30, 2009 by Mr MThe episode continues from the end of the third series finale “Last of the Time Lords”, when the TARDIS collided with the Titanic. To investigate further, the Doctor runs the TARDIS’s self-repair programme and boards the Titanic, where he discovers that the “ship” is an interstellar cruiser from the planet Sto. Modelled after the Earth ocean liner of the same name, the ship is orbiting present-day Earth to observe “primitive cultures”–specifically, Christmas. He decides to stow away, only telling waitress Astrid Peth (Kylie Minogue). The Doctor joins Astrid on a brief excursion to Earth, along with married couple Morvin and Foon Van Hoff (Clive Rowe and Debbie Chazen), an alien with a spiked red head named Bannakaffalatta (Jimmy Vee), and historian and guide Mr Copper (Clive Swift). However, the populace of London fled in fear of a third consecutive extraterrestrial attack, and only a few people remain in the city, most notably a newspaper seller called Wilfred Mott (Bernard Cribbins).
Doctor Who on iTunes
Posted in 10th Doctor, 9th Doctor, Christmas Special, iTunes, Objects of Desire with tags BBC America, Doctor Who, iTunes on January 21, 2009 by Mr MThe BBC and Apple have now, after a prolonged wait, made the 4 new seasons of Doctor Who available to download on iTunes in the UK. The downloads available include the Christmas specials.
This isn’t anything new for our US cousins who have been able to download episodes for quite some time, including episodes from the Classic series of Doctor Who, some episodes which have never previously been released.
The UK still has some way to go to get classic episodes available to download. It obviously means nothing to the BBC that us UK citizens have paid for the classic episodes through the license fee and should have had them available before our American friends!
